Artificial Sweetener Neotame

Neotame, also known by the trade name Newtame, is a non-caloric artificial sweetener and aspartame analog . Artificial sweetener neotame is similar to aspartame in sweetness, without bitterness and other aftertaste. Neotame is 8000 to 10000 times sweeter than sucrose, that is, 8000 times sweeter than sucrose at 5% sweetness and 10,000 times sweeter than sucrose at 2% sweetness. Neotame is allowed to be added in food and drink additive.

And USA FDA passed in 2002. In 2002, FDA approved it as a non-nutritive sweetener and flavor enhancer within United States in foods generally, except meat and poultry. In 2010, it was approved for use in foods within EU with the E number E961. It has also been approved as an food and drink additives in many other countries outside US and EU.
